$25,000 in Scholarships Awarded
We are proud to announce that ten scholarships were awarded for 2007-2008. We applaud these recipients for their strong commitments
to recovery, education and pursuit of a better life. They are inspirations to us all. Congratulations!
This year’s pool of candidates matched our vision of helping individuals who vary in age, background and pursuits. This round brought
us individuals who are starting on their first academic adventures and others who are completing their dreams that were started during
a different lifetime. Our youngest candidate, 18, will be starting college for the first time, while our oldest, 49, will be training
as a surgical technician at Cardinal Glennon Hospital. Others will be pursuing an associates degree in art with a minor in business or
undergraduate degrees in social services, athletic training, nursing, and construction site management. Two recipients from previous
school years re-qualified for scholarships. Each candidate expressed his/her gratitude for any help that The Next Step might provide.
Many stated that scholarship monies would relieve financial stress so that they could focus more time and energy on their studies.
The Next Step would like to thank all of those who have supported this great mission by donating and participating in our fund raising
events.
